ADHD & Autism Testing
for Young Adults
and College Students

Feeling misunderstood isn't your permanent reality—it's a signal that you deserve better support.

When Being "Smart Enough" Isn't Enough

If you're a young adult who:

  • Knows when to start assignments but can't make yourself begin on time

  • Feels constantly behind or overwhelmed despite your capabilities

  • Finds that friendships or relationships don't last or feel difficult to maintain

  • Achieves academically but at a tremendous personal cost

  • Worries about coming across as chaotic or disorganized

  • Experiences automatic negative thoughts about yourself

You're not lazy, unmotivated, or "just being dramatic"—you may be navigating neurodivergence without the right map.

As we learn more about neurodiversity, many young adults are discovering that their lifelong experiences finally have an explanation. I provide thorough, culturally-inclusive ADHD and Autism testing in a warm, accepting environment, designed specifically for young adults who've learned to adapt but still struggle privately.

What Testing Actually Offers You

  • A personal roadmap with your specific strengths, challenges, and evidence-based strategies tailored to your brain

  • Validation that your experiences are real, not just "in your head"

  • A translation manual to help parents and others understand you better

  • Documentation for academic accommodations that make college and work more manageable

  • Specific direction instead of wandering through the internet trying a million different "hacks"

  • Connection to resources that actually address your needs

  • Practical skills that make daily living less exhausting and more enjoyable

Special Note for Parents / Caregivers

You've watched your young adult struggle despite their intelligence and potential. Perhaps you've tried everything you know to help, but the challenges persist. Maybe you're skeptical about whether this is "just a trend" or if testing will actually make a difference.

What's important to understand is that testing isn't just about labeling your young adult—it's about providing them with specific directions and supports based on how their unique brain works.

Investment:

  • ADHD Testing Alone- $1500

  • Autism Testing Alone- $2750

  • Combined ADHD & Autism Testing- $4000

Includes all testing, comprehensive reporting, and follow-up consultation

The assessment process delivers:

  • Concrete strategies that can significantly improve family communication

  • Higher likelihood of higher education success and career development

  • Reduced distress and increased happiness

  • Tangible solutions to daily challenges that have been causing family friction

Remember:

When your young adult can't take the plate from the table to the sink (only making it to the counter), that might not be defiance—it's a skill deficit. Testing helps identify these specific challenges and provides practical solutions.

With the right understanding and support, your investment now can prevent years of unnecessary struggle and set your young adult up for a more fulfilling, successful future.

What Makes This Assessment Different

  • As a doctorate-level psychologist (not just a master's level clinician), I provide an in-depth evaluation that ensures a thorough assessment. Many institutions require psychologist-led evaluations for accommodations, giving you documentation that meets the highest standards.

  • I don't just check boxes on a standardized form. My thorough assessment captures your full experience, including how trauma, identity, and adaptation strategies may have masked your neurodivergent traits.

  • You'll leave with practical strategies for managing school workloads, improving relationships, and navigating daily challenges—not just a confirmation of whether or not you meet criteria for a diagnosis.

  • The assessment is designed to be accessible and accommodating to your needs, with breaks and a comfortable environment that won't trigger additional stress.

  • We'll identify not just your challenges but your unique strengths and how to leverage them for success in college and beyond.

Common Questions & Concerns

  • I hear this concern from both young adults and parents. While there is more awareness of neurodiversity now, the experiences and challenges are very real. The testing process goes far beyond social media checklists to provide scientific, in-depth understanding of your unique brain style.

  • As a Psychologist, Dr. Cohen does not prescribe medication. While a referral for a medication evaluation could be one of the recommendations made in your report, there are many other supports to consider as well. You may receive referrals to providers who can help with executive functioning, daily living coaching, and strategies to address sensory issues. The goal is tangible results—not endless therapy rehashing your childhood, but concrete approaches to make your life more manageable and enjoyable.

  • Dr. Cohen welcomes your questions and concerns about this.

Many clients worry about what a diagnosis might mean. The truth is, the diagnosis itself isn't the end goal—it's the starting point for understanding. What's truly valuable is the personalized roadmap you'll receive that details your brain's unique functioning and provides specific strategies tailored to your needs.

A diagnosis isn't a label that limits you—it's a key that unlocks access to accommodations, supportive communities, and a framework for understanding yourself better. The process is about gaining clarity and practical tools that allow you to thrive in ways that align with how your brain naturally works.

  • Intelligence and neurodivergence often go hand-in-hand. Many of my clients are exceptionally bright but find certain aspects of life inexplicably challenging. This isn't a failure of intelligence or effort-- it's a combo of how your brain is wired AND the external expectations in your environment that may not be the most inclusive. Testing serves to translate your experience into actionable steps to allow you to shine more brightly—and with less stress along the way.

  • This is a super common worry among people who come to see me. And it is literally THE reason I decided to start offering testing in the first place. Many folks become "master maskers" doing it so fluently even they don't realize until after the fact. Because of this, I build in numerous opportunities to explore your experience to ensure you feel accurately represented by the end.

  • While Dr. Cohen's services are Private Pay only, she can provide you with a Superbill upon request. A Superbill is a document that you can provide to your insurance provider to request reimbursement, if you have out of network benefits.
