What Does a Thoughtful Testing Process Actually Look Like?

If you’ve been exploring ADHD or Autism testing as an adult—or just wondering what kind of support might help—you’ve probably run into a lot of big, clinical terms.

So let’s break it down.

When I say my testing process is:

🖥️ Virtual

💛 Trauma-Informed

🌍 Culturally Responsive

🧠 Neurodiversity-Affirming

Here’s what I actually mean:

🖥️ Virtual: Testing That Fits Your Life

No fluorescent lights. No awkward waiting rooms.
My evaluations are 100% online, so you can show up:

  • in your comfiest clothes

  • from your coziest couch

  • with your pet or a snack in hand (and yes, bring those fidgets!)

All without fighting traffic or worrying about being “on” in a clinical space.

💛 Trauma-Informed: Your Story in Full Context

This isn’t just a buzzword.

Being trauma-informed means I:

  • ask about trauma history with care and consent

  • respect your pacing

  • recognize how trauma may shape your symptoms, adaptations, and past diagnoses

This lens shapes every part of the process—from how I interpret your story to the recommendations I offer.

🌍 Culturally Responsive: No One-Size-Fits-All

I look at the whole picture:

  • how your identities, values, and lived experiences shape how you move through the world

  • how systems may have failed to see or support you and also any ways that systems have supported you

  • how the measures I use were created—and whether they reflect people like you

We may talk about:

  • code switching

  • assimilation

  • and how you’ve navigated belonging across different spaces

Your full self is welcome here.

🧠 Neurodiversity-Affirming: You Are Not a Deficit

You are not broken. You are not a list of symptoms.

You are a whole human being with:

  • a unique brain

  • incredible resilience in the face of this often non-inclusive time in the world

  • strategies you’ve developed over a lifetime—some so ingrained you barely notice them

We’ll talk about things like masking, coping, and how to understand rather than pathologize your experience.

💬 The Bottom Line

This process is not about proving something’s wrong with you.

It’s about:

  • Honoring your lived experience

  • Getting clarity

  • And making space for you to be more fully yourself

If you’ve been wondering whether an ADHD and/or Autism assessment might help you better understand yourself and get support, let’s talk.
